Job Description

Performs laboratory procedures such as blood harvesting and urine monitoring according to protocol asassigned. Works with coordinators in assuring the smooth and orderly flow of procedures in the ClinicsLab and Urine Monitoring areas.

This position is a 1 year fixed term contract

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Collects and harvest plasma serum and all other required laboratory specimens

  • according to protocol specifications.

  • Monitors the collection of urine and/or fecal specimens from subjectsparticipating in studies.

  • Completes all required study documents and might need to be trained on specialequipment per protocol.

  • Assures that all procedures and processing areas are maintained in a neat cleanand organized manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

  • Technical positions may require a certificate

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0to 1 year).

In some cases an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education trainingand/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet therequirements of the role.

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed in in a clinical environment.

  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently stationary for 4-6 hours per day.

  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast simple repeated movementsof the fingers hands and wrists.

  • Occasional mobility required.

  • Occasional crouching stooping bending and twisting of upper body and neck.

  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptopcomputer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.

  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen toand understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • May interact with others relating and gathering sensitive information. Interaction includes diversegroups.

  • Works with guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management. May requireperiods of intense concentration.

  • Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditionswith little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Regular and consistent attendance.
