We seek a professional knowledgeable Engineering Project Managerfor aregular full-time position. The essential responsibilities fortheEngineering Project Manager may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Management of consultants and technical professionals.
  • Implements and assists in the development and delivery of the Ports capital projects.
  • Coordinates major aspects of project management on a day-to-day basis including contract compliance schedule compliance quality assurance and quality control preparation of periodic reports and the preparation of cost estimates and project budget reports.
  • Develops or provides direction and coordination of the development of construction design plans and specifications for complex engineering projects typical to the Port industry. Certifies with Professional Engineers seal and signature that engineering designs conform with accepted professional engineering standards and practices and the requirements of law.
  • Inspects Port marine and industrial facilities and recommends repairs upgrades and/or replacements.
  • Reviews design plans and specifications for conformance to project requirements. Prepares develops and checks complex specialized contract provisions and design agreements. Conducts pre-bid and preconstruction conferences detailing principal construction features and agreements.
  • Prepares complex technical engineering and administrative reports and develops critical correspondence and comprehensive reports in support of engineering projects and decisions.
  • Prepares and oversees permitting processes for the implementation of capital projects and maintenance.
  • Provides analytical data on project trends in man hour performance and cost materials and equipment cost and overall productivity.
  • Investigates analyzes and resolves complex facility issues concerns or trends.
  • Develops plans and programs for marketing facilities finance and government relations departments on road rail facility planning and funding and outreach strategies.
  • Assists with Ports facilities management programs.
  • Actively supports the Ports mission and vision and demonstrates values consistently.
  • Works effectively as a team player with all Port employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution bachelors degree in Architecture or advanced degree in a related technical field.

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project management or engineering required. Knowledge of local state and federal building environmental and land-use planning regulations pertinent to the Port industry. Ability to plan and coordinate facilities modifications or relocations; establish and monitor budgets prepare and present reports. Experience with commercial buildings and site development is desired.

License/Certification:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) credential highly desired.
  • If an Architect American Institute of Architects (AIA) credential highly desired.
  • Valid unrestricted drivers license required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card) upon hire required.

Analytical skills: Able to gather relevant data from appropriate sources; identify all relevant factors or restrictions; apply logical reasoning to determine relationship of variables; develop results-oriented conclusions; test assumptions observe results and incorporate revisions or corrections. Ability to think strategically and cultivate an environment of teamwork.

Communication Skills: College level written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to communicate effectively up down and across the entire organization clearly and succinctly in a variety of styles to get messages across that have the desired effect. The ability to develop and deliver formal presentations in a variety of settings. (i.e. one-on-one small or large groups).

Organizational skills: Able to prioritize and organize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Must have the capacity to balance both short- and long-term issues effectively and handle many simultaneous and often conflicting and changing priorities.

Problem solving skills: Logically think through and solve problems involving several variables. Remain objective in gathering information and investigating issues.

Computer Skills: Advanced personal computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office suite Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to sit stand and bend for extended periods throughout the workday; talk hear walk push/pull stoop kneel and reach on a frequent to regular basis.
  • Repetitive hand motions on a frequent basis including typing grasping handling and use of fingers.
  • Ability to read handwritten and typed documents on paper and computer screens.
  • Ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. and drive on an as-needed basis.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and at various outdoor locations where adverse weather conditions uneven ground exposure to moving machinery and moderate to loud noise is common.
