The North Carolina Department of Revenue is currently recruiting for a Garnishment Processing Supervisor in our Taxpayer Assistance and Collection (TPAC) Division. The Payments and Data Processing (PDP) Unit is responsible for timely and accurately processing payments received by TPAC from installment payment plans and garnishments. This position serves as one of the team leaders for the PDP Unit. The primary responsibility of the position is the day-to-day supervision of assigned unit employees. The direct report duties include correspondence review and creating garnishment vouchers from wages garnered by employers and banks. The work environment for this team is fast-paced and requires diligence attention to detail accuracy and the ability to adapt easily to change.

Primary duties include:

Manages the various activities revolving around processing daily garnishment receipts

Supports the document preparation requirements of the different data capture formats in use currently within the agency

Assists in the development review and management of business rules to ensure document preparation/voucher requirements are optimal

Evaluates the daily operations for each area and planning the allocation of resources accordingly processing and reporting of tax collections from various platforms

Reconciles processing errors

Prepares and balances the manual deposit (including cash handling)

Researches unidentified or incomplete payment including interacting with the taxpayer

Works with numerous employers regarding their garnishment submissions

Measures and monitors employee performance

Provides training and coaching assists in administering personnel policies and employee development

This position is hybrid and days in the office may change to ensure smooth functioning of the unit.

  • Experience entering data efficiently and accurately

  • Ability to use NCDORs mainframe computer systems and other internal systems

  • Thorough understanding of the various internal systems utilized by these units

Recruitment Range: $41206 - $72113

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
