Job Summary:

The Production Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the production plan (budget) for the Ammonia Plant is met in a safe efficient timely and cost-effective manner each and every day. This position directs develops and manages the Production Department toward continued accomplishment of its objective of the safe timely production storage and shipment of product in the correct quantity quality and cost. Planning coordinating communicating and controlling are major responsibilities of this position.

Job Summary:

The Production Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the production plan (budget) for the Ammonia Plant is met in a safe efficient timely and cost-effective manner each and every day. This position directs develops and manages the Production Department toward continued accomplishment of its objective of the safe timely production storage and shipment of product in the correct quantity quality and cost. Planning coordinating communicating and controlling are major responsibilities of this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Embraces safety and environmental stewardship as a core value of leadership.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with other departments at Waggaman to obtain the required assistance in meeting departmental objectives.
  • Prepares and administers the department budget.
  • Develops and maintains effective employee relations.
  • Maintains effective programs in safety cost control and reporting and manpower training development and utilization.
  • Monitors plant operating conditions and takes necessary corrective actions to meet department objectives.
  • Directs and/or recommends necessary changes to plant processes equipment procedures or staffing to meet departmental objectives.
  • Coordinates the performance of the Production Department.
  • Prepares operating strategy to meet production plan.
  • Coaches and develops Production Department Supervisors.
  • Maintains effective communications and working relationships with employees throughout the plant.
  • Mobilizes quickly without acting impulsively showing good judgment.
  • Acts on ones own initiative and coordinates actions to plans of the Plant Manager.
  • Works independently and under conditions of high interdependency.
  • Develops and implements operational plans which deal with such activities as maintenance turnarounds and employee development programs as well as producing product in a timely and efficient manner.

Internal Controls:

  • Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements.
  • Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed.
  • Works with Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures the need for new ones and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed.
  • Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering
  • 10 years of supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Exposure to project management and implementation.
  • Solid communication skills including the ability to effectively converse in English compose written documents and interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Familiar with applicable codes regulations and standards.
