Job Summary

ABOUT THE POSITION

Riverside University Health Systems Behavioral Health department is seeking a Spanish Bilingual Parent/Youth Partner to join their Mindful Body and Recovery program located in Perris CA.

Under direct supervision provides assistance and support to parents youth and caregivers in clinic home school and community settings; offers feedback to the program to support quality improvements and performs other related duties as required. Incumbents share their personal experience and expertise by co-facilitating parent and life-skills groups mentoring families new to the program and reviewing program materials. As a mentor they provide emotional support attend appointments or school-based sessions as needed model healthy behaviors and assist families in navigating clinical educational and community resources.

The ideal candidate will bring a calm supportive presence and a genuine passion for helping families navigate the challenges of eating disorders and related behavioral health needs and resources available. Theyll be flexible and comfortable working in a brand-new fast-evolving program where adaptability is essential. Strong communication skills especially in meeting parents and caregivers in both English and Spanish speaking environments; willing to collaborate with clinicians facilitate groups and provide hands-on support in homes schools and community settings.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM regular day off: Friday.
Depending on necessity this position may require a schedule shift 1-2 days out of the week from 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provide as part of a professional team assistance and support to parents/youth including peer counseling/mentoring and accompanying parents/youth to meetings.

Orient parents/youth entering the child welfare system.

Communicate represent and promote on behalf of parents/youth their perspective within the child welfare system.

Participate in programs meetings and trainings as part of a professional team.

Identify information and resources in local communities which are useful to parents/youth.

Assist and promote active involvement in support group activities.

Plan and provide feedback related to workshops conferences and other coordinated efforts to improve related services.

Review existing and proposed programs for implementation of partners/youth philosophy and participate in the development of new programs and resources.

Document all contacts and interactions with their mentee on approved contact form.

Represent the Department in local and Statewide meetings for networking and information sharing; provide training about effective parent/youth partnership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Current or previous experience as a parent/youth who has received child welfare services.

Knowledge of: The basic needs and problems of clients in the child welfare system; and of the complex public and/or private agency services available for clients with serious needs such as schools social services and other systems.

Ability to: Learn the basic principles of the child welfare program; understand the cultural and social factors affecting need for social services; effectively communicate social cultural and behavioral facts to clients professional staff and community members; effectively establish and maintain good relations with a range of social and ethnic groups; obtain and record accurate information for case documentation and other reports; demonstrate an understanding of and an ability to successfully implement concepts presented in orientation and training.

License/Certificate: Valid California Drivers License required

Testing Requirement: Bilingual Level I
