Role specifics and benefits are designed to support your success. As the PACU RN you will:
- Monitor and manage post-anesthesia patients in the PACU including airway oxygenation hemodynamics temperature and pain control using advanced monitoring equipment and evidence-based protocols.
- Assess patients on arrival to PACU anticipate potential complications institute rapid interventions and coordinate with anesthesia and surgical teams to optimize recovery trajectories.
- Administer prescribed medications titrate analgesia and antiemetics and implement multimodal strategies to minimize side effects and promote comfortable waking.
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record communicate changes to the care team and ensure safe discharge planning or transfer to appropriate inpatient units.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care advocate for patient and family education and participate in debriefings to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
- Seek opportunities for skill expansion within PACU including experiences with ortho neuro cardiac or complex pediatric cases and pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications.
