1. BOM Management: Create maintain and analyze Bills of Materials in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. This includes ensuring all components Product hierarchy/structure and specifications are accurately documented and updated.
Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive BOMs that detail components materials assemblies and sub-assemblies including phantom BOMs and modular BOMs as required by product complexity.
3. Data Accuracy and Compliance: Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of information within systems performing verification of launch BOM accuracy and establishing BOM review process for pre-production builds. Ensure compliance with company standards and process guidelines.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering Purchasing production and supply chain teams to track changes resolve discrepancies and optimize BOM coding.
5. Lead BOM review meetings with cross-functional teams for resolution of open issues and participate in engineering change and launch reviews.
6. Change Management: Manage engineering change orders and update BOMs accordingly. Assist in coordinating engineering/process changes and minimizing obsolete materials.
7. Inventory and Material Optimization: Support engineering and inventory control by leading efforts to maintain and improve inventory accuracy.
8. Support Cost reduction initiatives - Identify cost-saving opportunities through BOM data analysis.
9. System and Process Improvement: Work closely with IT and system administrators to suggest enhancements to PLM/ERP systems to improve BOM data management reporting and user experience.
Practices: Research and implement industry best practices for BOM management configuration control and product data governance to drive continuous improvement.
11. New Product Introduction Support: Support new product introductions by developing initial BOMs BOM scrubbing validation process etc.
12. Training and Guidance: Develop a deep understanding of systems and processes providing direction and training to colleagues.
Education: A Bachelors degree in an Engineering.
Experience: Typically 0-3 years of experience in BOM management inventory management or a related data field particularly within the automotive industry.
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in PLM and ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle Windchill) is crucial. Familiarity with data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel Business Objects and Access is also beneficial.
Analytical Abilities: Excellent attention to detail strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting engineering drawings specifications and complex data.
Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills are required to interact effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
