The Position
Events East is now acception applications for a 12 month Maternity Leave Contract for an Human Resource Coordinator.
Reporting to the Director Human Resources the Human Resources Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for the Human Resources and Payroll department. This role provides integral support to the organization by coordinating the full recruitment cycle of our hourly workforce human resource administration Occupational Health and Safety support and various departmental initiatives. Given the nature of this position a high degree of professionalism discretion and commitment to confidentiality is essential.
What youll do
Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
- Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process in alignment with Events East Group policies and applicable Collective Agreements.
- Partner with hiring managers to clarify position requirements posting strategies selection criteria and interview logistics.
- Prepare and post job advertisements across internal and external recruitment platforms.
- Screen applications shortlist candidates and schedule interviews while ensuring timely and professional communication with applicants.
- Conduct reference checks support offer development and prepare all recruitment-related documentation.
- Maintain recruitment metrics and assist in identifying trends to support continuous improvement.
- Strengthen talent pipelines through ongoing engagement with candidates community partners and post-secondary institutions.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and ensure proper documentation is sent to payroll.
- Assist with strategies aimed at improving recruitment efficiencies reducing time-to-fill and enhancing the candidates experience.
Human Resources Administration
- Resolve internal and external Human Resources-related inquiries or direct to the appropriate resources as needed.
- Support the administration of all Collective Agreement processes for the organization.
- Participate in the development implementation and administration of resources policies procedures and programs within the scope of responsibility.
- Support the administration of the full employee life-cycle processes including but not limited to resourcing (recruitment) onboarding and offboarding.
- Draft and distribute Employment Letters.
- Review immigration documents and submitted applications to ensure accuracy completeness and compliance with current immigration regulations and organizational sponsorship policies.
- Provide administrative support for work permits and other employer-sponsored immigration matters in collaboration with legal and government agencies.
- Support with research to assign appropriate NOC (National Occupation Classification) codes; develop and update job descriptions to support compliance recruitment and immigration processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and effective records management for all activities.
- Various Human Resources projects and other duties as assigned.
Employee Lifecycle
- Assist with and conduct new employee orientations.
- Support retention strategies as outlined by Events East Group.
- Administer the employee departure checklist and all duties required of this process.
Health & Safety
- Provide administrative assistance to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Prepare safety reports regularly for the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee the Board of Directors and Events East Group departments as requested.
Compensation & Benefits
- Ensure the delivery completion and input of all new hire and employee lifecycle change documentation.
- Assist the Payroll & Benefits Analyst with compensation and benefits support as required.
What youll need
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field or an equivalent combination of education relevant HR experience or progress toward a CPHR designation.
- 1-3 years relevant experience within Human Resources or equivalent.
- Previous experience in recruitment selection and onboarding is considered an asset.
- Previous experience or working knowledge of Nova Scotia Immigration programs and process.
- Strong interest in recruitment and talent acquisition.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain data with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and professionalism.
- Comfortable taking ownership of work proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and bringing forward ideas.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS an asset.
