As the Manufacturing Controller you will report to the Site Finance Leader and be responsible for the financial activities of our manufacturing plant. This role is a key business partner to plant leadership with a primary focus on analyzing operational and financial performance metrics and providing actionable recommendations to improve profitability cost efficiency and overall plant performance.

The Manufacturing Controller is expected to be hands-on shop-floor-oriented and highly data-driven. Strong analytical capability advanced Excel skills and a passion for leveraging IT systems and technology are critical to streamlining financial processes improving data accuracy and supporting effective decision-making across the manufacturing operation.

Location: Farmington CT Onsite Daily


Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning Budgeting & Performance Management

  • Develop manage and monitor plant-level budgets forecasts and financial performance metrics to ensure financial objectives are achieved
  • Track and analyze performance versus budget and forecast clearly explaining variances and trends
  • Support long-range planning and continuous improvement initiatives

Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis

  • Own and maintain manufacturing cost structures including standard costs for labor material and overhead
  • Analyze and report on key financial and operational indicators including cost variances productivity efficiency scrap and inventory
  • Provide clear financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Conduct profitability make-vs-buy and capital investment analyses as needed

Operational Partnership & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate closely with plant management and cross-functional teams (Operations Engineering Supply Chain) to identify improvement opportunities
  • Drive and support cost-saving and efficiency initiatives that enhance plant profitability
  • Act as a trusted finance business partner at all levels within the manufacturing plant with a strong presence on the shop floor

Systems Data & Process Optimization

  • Leverage ERP and other IT systems to streamline financial processes and improve reporting efficiency
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based models dashboards and analytical tools
  • Enhance data accuracy integrity and accessibility to support timely decision-making
  • Partner with IT and Corporate Finance on system improvements and analytics capabilities

Controls Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations company policies and internal control requirements
  • Maintain accurate financial records inventory controls and documentation
  • Support audits and internal reviews as required

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Provide financial guidance and support in a collaborative solutions-oriented manner
  • Mentor and support plant accounting or finance staff as applicable

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting or a related field
  • MBA or professional certification (CPA CMA) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial management controlling or a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in cost accounting and plant-level financial support

  • Passionate about manufacturing and IT tools with demonstrated success leveraging technology for process improvement

  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision while maintaining high accountability and productivity
  • Clear communicator who can translate financial data into operational insights

Pay range: $100k $110k

Within this range individual pay is determined based on skills experience and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws if applicable.
