The Dublin GA facility is part of the companys residential product division manufacturing vinyl windows and doors in a state-of-the-art 200000 square foot facility featuring advanced automation technology and integrated production systems. The company has operated in the Macon/Dublin Georgia corridor for over 30 years recently investing up to $125 million in a brand-new manufacturing facility that began operations in late 2023. The facility employs over 250 people and is known for its commitment to quality innovation and a philosophy of continuous improvement.

This position is ideal for a hands-on technically strong manufacturing engineer who thrives in a fast-paced production environment enjoys solving problems on the floor and wants to make a direct impact on manufacturing operations at a world-class facility.

Role Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is a floor-focused project-driven role responsible for improving manufacturing processes optimizing production efficiency and supporting the engineering needs of a high-volume window and door manufacturing operation. This individual will work directly with production teams maintenance and management to identify and implement
improvements that reduce waste increase throughput and maintain product quality.

Success in this role requires strong technical manufacturing engineering skills proficiency with AutoCAD and CNC programming familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and the ability to work comfortably in both the engineering office and on the production floor. The ideal candidate is analytical proactive and comfortable taking ownership of projects from concept through implementation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design develop and optimize manufacturing processes and workflows to improve efficiency quality and throughput.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings layouts and documentation using AutoCAD(2D proficiency required).
  • Program and troubleshoot CNC machines to support production requirements and new product introductions.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to identify waste reduce cycle times and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct time studies process mapping and capacity analysis to support production planning and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with production maintenance and quality teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support PLC-controlled automation systems working with maintenance and controls teams to optimize automated equipment performance.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) work instructions and process documentation.
  • Lead or participate in capital equipment projects including specification installation and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Manage engineering projects from concept through implementation ensuring schedule budget and quality alignment.
  • Support new product introductions by developing manufacturing methods tooling and fixtures.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes to resolve quality and production issues.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety standards OSHA requirements and company policies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers technicians and production personnel.

Required Background

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting and design required).
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with CNC programming and machine operation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with PLC systems and manufacturing automation (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting time studies process mapping and capacity planning.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes materials and production equipment.
  • Experience with project management in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working on the production floor and in an office environment.
    High attention to detail with a quality- and safety-focused mindset.
  • Experience in window door aluminum extrusion or building products manufacturing (Preferred).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (Preferred).
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (Preferred).
  • Background in high-volume automated manufacturing environments (Preferred).
  • Experience with vinyl or aluminum fabrication processes (Preferred).
