Job Title:
Systems Administrator / Operations Support Specialist Senior
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Duration: 12 months (with potential 12-month extension)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator / Operations Support Specialist with deep enterprise infrastructure experience to support and lead complex file services and directory service migrations. This is a hands-on senior specialist role not an entry- or mid-level position.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Novell OES/eDirectory environments alongside solid experience in Active Directory file services and migration methodologies with the ability to manage permissions security and operational risk during large-scale transitions across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities
Support and execute enterprise file system and directory service migrations across multiple divisions
Participate in and support discovery sessions requirements gathering and migration planning
Assist with creation and restructuring of directory/file system hierarchies for upcoming migrations
Support decommissioning and archival of legacy environments
Provide operational support during migration phases including increased ticket volumes
Assist in defining future migration scopes and readiness planning
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide escalation support
Maintain detailed documentation runbooks and migration artefacts
Ensure security compliance audit logging and access controls are properly implemented
Required Experience & Qualifications
Core Experience
7 years of enterprise systems administration
3 years of Novell OES / NetWare administration (5 years preferred)
3 years of infrastructure or file system migration experience
Bachelors degree in IT Computer Science or equivalent experience
At least one relevant professional certification such as:
Technical Skills
Novell eDirectory NSS file systems trustee rights LDAP
File services DFS and enterprise storage solutions
Migration tools methodologies and permission mapping
Scripting and automation (PowerShell Bash Python)
Security fundamentals compliance and audit logging
Soft Skills & Professional Competencies
Strong technical and stakeholder communication skills
Structured approach to documentation testing and validation
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
Accountability ownership and escalation judgment
Ability to collaborate across technical teams and business units
Adaptability and calm execution during cutover and migration windows
Deliverables
Support directory and file structure creation for upcoming migrations
Assist with discovery scope definition and requirements documentation
Support decommissioning and archival activities
Provide operational support during migration phases
