Caterpillars Employee Benefit Funds (EBF) team is an important part of our Corporate Treasury organization managing almost $40 billion in various retirement benefit plan and insurance assets. The EBF team is responsible for advising the Benefit Funds Committee (BFC) the investment committee with fiduciary oversight over all financial aspects of the benefit plan investment portfolios. Defined Contribution plans (401(k)) are the primary retirement savings vehicle for our U.S. participants with more than 70000 current and former employees investing over $24 billion in assets.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Benefit Investments Manager to join our EBF team with responsibility to oversee the investment and compliance aspects of our defined contribution plans. This role will have broad responsibility in helping to ensure that the 401(k) plans and the individual investment menu options meet their objectives and the needs of our participants. The Benefit Investments Manager will lead their team to deliver sustained process excellence through strong governance documentation standards thorough benchmarking diligent fee negotiations oversight of investment managers and service providers and continuous adoption of best practice solutions.

What You Will Do:
Primary Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Exercises primary responsibility for the management of the Caterpillar U.S. Defined Contribution Plans investment assets according to the policy established by the Caterpillar Benefit Funds Committee (BFC).

• Works in conjunction with the BFC to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the investment and ongoing monitoring of DC plan assets to enable a secure retirement for Caterpillar plan participants.

• Works closely with investment consultants directed trustee and custodian recordkeepers investment managers and internal partners in Total Rewards and Accounting to ensure smooth plan administration and compliance.

• Performs on-going due diligence reviews of investment manager performance and risk against policy objectives and benchmarks compliance with agreements and investment guidelines and evaluation of plan fees and expenses.

• Stays informed of the regulatory environment trends and best practices in the defined contribution industry and provides insight and recommendations to the BFC as needed.

• Performs periodic asset class reviews with assistance of external consultant and presents results to the BFC.

• Leads periodic Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for investment managers and external service providers as necessary including the negotiation of investment management agreements contracts and other documentation with the assistance of ERISA counsel.

• Supports the development and ongoing production of investment reporting and dashboards

• Leads and develops a team of Finance Analysts in all aspects of investment operations.

• Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams; ability to lead develop and mentor finance analyst(s)

• Fund Performance Analysis: Knowledge of fund activity and performance analysis; ability to analyze fund performance and risk through reporting practices processes and techniques

• Investments: Knowledge of investments; ability to analyze and evaluate asset types market and industry trends major issues and regulatory considerations

• Regulatory Environment: Knowledge of regulatory environment and reporting requirements for defined contribution plans including the potential impact to the investment portfolio and operations; ability to help an organization comply with regulations; develop and follow organization-specific policies and guidelines

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• Advanced knowledge of public market asset classes risks investment strategies and performance attribution

• Knowledge of private market asset classes risks investment strategies investment structures and performance attribution

• Experience conducting due diligence on institutional asset managers and investment strategies selecting asset managers establishing investment guidelines and negotiating investment manager agreements

• Strong operations governance with a focus on risk management process excellence and controls

• Experience working with auditors and external services providers such as trustees/custodians consultants and investment managers

• Working knowledge data services or investment analytics systems

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence decisions

• Strong project management skills and the ability to independently lead and execute multiple competing priorities to completion

• Direct employee leadership experience

• This position is located at our headquarter offices in Irving TX

• Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify

Summary Pay Range:
