Job Description:

A Brief Overview

Coordinate the acquisition distribution inventory repair/replacement and return of specialty instrumentation supplies and equipment for Surgical Services. Provides for smooth day to day operation within the specialty services by identifying supply and equipment requests with physicians and staff. Work with Material Management to maintain adequate and appropriate inventory of supplies. Participates in the evaluation of new products. Works within the Cerner application to build new inventory and preference cards as needed. Functions in the surgical tech role as this statement: Perform daily audit of surgical supply and implant charges and correct procedure coding.

What you will do

  • Works with providers to acquire supplies equipment and instrumentation that is being requested for surgical procedures.
  • Directly communicates with product vendors to acquire needed items and communicate the need for their presence.
  • Monitors supply levels for supplies including direct order inventory and orders as needed.
  • Communicates directly with materials management quality and vendors concerns regarding supplies.
  • Works within the Cerner system to keep inventory up to date.
  • Works with Materials Management regarding back ordered items and communicates this appropriately.
  • Participates in essential functions of surg tech when in that role.


Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • Graduate of a certified tech program or hospital trained through a formal education program Required
  • Experience in a materials-related field with knowledge of supply distribution especially in a clinical setting Preferred
  • 4-6 years Five (5) years in the operating room as a surgical technologist Preferred
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ensures competency and comprehension of all regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment policies procedures and strategies to promote safety and security operations for the protection of people data property and company.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself other individuals or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words rules of composition and grammar.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying taking time to understand the points being made asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Certified Surgical Technician Required

Qualifications:

Required: Graduate of certified tech program or hospital trained through a formal education program. May function in the surgical technologist or sterile processing role.
