About the team

Human-centered insights and a deep understanding of people and cultures are essential to how we do our best work. Our team of design researchers guide design partners and cross-functional teams at ebay to discover interpret and act upon insights and opportunities in an inspiring way. We contribute to all phases of product development and influence product and business strategy while were at it.

About the Role

We are looking for a Staff UX Researcher who is a strategic thinker great storyteller and loves working with peers and leaders to uncover insights and drive sophisticated solutions to tough problems. This passionate and inclusive researcher will work closely alongside partners from design business product management engineering and marketing globally to deliver high-impact user insights. prioritizing planning implementing and socializing user research across a spectrum of methodologies is something this candidate excels at. They are strong influencers within and outside the design organization building credibility and visibility company-wide for eBays design research team.

What You WIll Do

  • Own UX Research prioritization with the core team and relevant partners focused on the Rates and Labels Platform Experience on the Shipping team while strategically covering other areas within Shipping as needed. Work with cross-functional teams and lead to identity and prioritize impactful research opportunities.

  • Drive key features products or initiatives based on company priorities

  • Lead research towards advising on improvements to make and defining excellent customer experiences. Partner and work closely with Design Product and Business leadership to drive the UX strategy for the area.

  • Employ storytelling techniques and workshops to communicate research insights and recommendations and help teams turn insights into action.

  • Actively contribute to the always-growing UX Research practice at eBay. Mentor and actively support research team members in their career growth.

What You Will Bring

  • 6 years of experience in applied user experience research settings.

  • Experience driving research prioritization and successfully impacting product decisions to benefit the customers and the business.

  • Deep understanding of discipline fundamentals and some expert-level techniques. Practical experience in deploying qualitative and quantitative research methods throughout the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch.

  • Consistent track record of building and curating user research programs employing a range of methodologies.

  • Ability to lead through ambiguous situations working with teams to ensure that the right research questions are answered and that research insights are useful.

  • Ability to solve sophisticated problems and support the team in delivery of insights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in Anthropology Sociology Cognitive or Experimental Psychology Human Factors Engineering a related field and 6 years of relevant practical experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills expert influencer and advocate for User Research.

  • Experience working in large organizations across multiple teams is preferred.

  • eCommerce/global research experience is desired.
