Community Affairs Technician Part Time with PERS

The Animal Services Department is seeking a dynamic creative and compassionate Community Affairs Technician to join our team! Our mission is to create PAWsitive impact by enriching the lives of animals and people. We accomplish this by caring for thousands of animals (domestic and wildlife) annually and working to reunite them with their owners rehome them or transfer them to rescue and rehabilitation organizations. We also play an important role in assisting the public with their animal-related concerns. The Animal Centers new Community Affairs Technician will manage the Animal Centers website social media accounts develop marketing and program material and create engaging stories and content to help support animal adoptions and community programs!

Youll be responsible for:

• Designing graphics flyers marketing material social media content and newsletters.
• Leading on-site photo and video documentation.
• Editing videos for social medial platforms.
• Managing archives of digital and design files.
• Attending community outreach events to document and promote the event and Animal Services programs.
• Assisting with proofreading and editing procedures and community correspondence.
• Responding to community request for assistance and information.
• Assisting with compiling and communicating data and performance metrics with the community and stakeholders.
• Collaborating with the Citys Community Affairs Network.
• Ensuring all Animal Center materials messaging and published content is consistent with the Animal Center and Citys branding standards.

Please Note:Team RC Perks may vary by department and position. Due to the nature of work in our Animal Center some perks such as flexible schedules remote work bringing your dog to work and baby on board accommodations may not be available for this role.

Education and/or Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Graduation from high school or equivalent. Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in graphic design video editing or content production. Associate degree in Marketing Communications or related field preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Proficiency with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite Canva) video editing tools and social media platforms including management and content scheduling with knowledge of applicable laws. Strong understanding of branding and communication standards with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. Skilled in operating modern office equipment including computer hardware and specialized desktop publishing and graphics programs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including customers community groups supervision management and the general public; and communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Special Requirements:

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C or Class 3 California Drivers License and have a satisfactory driving record.
