Job description
Join our dedicated Operating Theatres team as a Porter where you will play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient delivery of surgical services. This is a fastpaced handson position at the heart of patient care. You will ensure the smooth and timely flow of patients equipment specimens and essential supplies throughout the theatre department.
In this key role you will contribute to maintaining high standards of theatre safety adhere to infection prevention protocols and support theatre staff to create a clean organised and wellprepared surgical environment. Your professionalism reliability and commitment to patient dignity will help ensure our theatres run seamlessly and safely.

Job requirements
The Theatre Porter supports the safe and efficient running of the Operating Department by following all hospital policies Health & Safety requirements Fire Regulations and COSHH procedures. The role involves working closely with wards clinical teams and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and a wellmaintained theatre environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Transport & Support
Safely transfer patients to and from theatres recovery wards and other clinical areas.
Assist with patient positioning comfort and dignity during transfers.
Communicate clearly and professionally with scrub anaesthetic and recovery teams.
Theatre & Equipment Support
Prepare theatres by moving equipment trolleys and supplies as required.
Transport clinical equipment between theatre sites (FSC/FCL) recovery and sterile services.
Support the safe movement and correct storage of gas cylinders.
Assist with clearing down theatres before and after procedures.
Infection Prevention & Cleanliness
Follow infection prevention and control standards at all times.
Support cleaning teams by promptly removing waste linen and contaminated items.
Maintain cleanliness of trolleys wheelchairs and patientmovement equipment.
Operational Support
Respond promptly to theatre calls emergencies and urgent requests.
Assist with stock movement including sterile trays and consumables.
Report equipment faults or safety concerns immediately.
Specimen Handling
