Old Yale Brewing is looking for Assistant General Managers for our Abbotsford and Chilliwack locations.
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) drives an exceptional guest experience by leading the tasting and sale of beer and nonbeer products across the restaurant and merchandise store. Working sidebyside with the General Manager this role helps guide daily operations motivates the team and champions the brand with enthusiasm and professionalism. The Assistant General Manager sets the pace on the floor elevating service standards supporting staff development and ensuring every guest enjoys an engaging educational and memorable visit.
In addition to leadership duties this role remains handson with serving stocking cleaning inventory ordering and sales support stepping in wherever needed to keep the operation running efficiently and with great energy.
This position reports to the General Manager and alternatively the Hospitality Manager from time to time.
Responsibilities
Guest Experience and Sales
Ensure exceptional guest experiences by maintaining and carrying out OYBs high standards of service and hospitality pacing and overall guest flow.
Consistently contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to drive revenue and profitability.
Support merchandising and retail sales through engaging product presentation and staff coaching.
Jump in to serve stock clean or assist with sales whenever needed.
Team Leadership
Motivate coach and support team members to enhance their skills and performance.
Assist the General Manager with hiring onboarding and ongoing training.
Help resolve guest or staff conflicts calmly and professionally modeling effective problem-solving.
Recognize and celebrate wins reinforcing positive behaviors and boosting team morale.
Coach team members in real time offering constructive feedback that builds confidence and sharpens skills.
Operations
Assist the General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant including team member management scheduling inventory management quality control etc.
Assist the General Manager in various administrative tasks such as payroll reporting inventory management etc.
Champion and ensure compliance with health safety and alcohol service regulations.
Maintain cleanliness organization and readiness throughout the front of house.
Roll up your sleeves and do whats necessary to get the job done and complete other duties as required within the same scope and level.
Qualifications
2 years of direct-related experience in a similar role in a restaurant setting.
Well rounded knowledge of restaurant operations.
A knowledge and passion for craft beer and the brewing industry is an asset.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to make genuine connections and motivate and inspire team members.
High energy and performance-driven with a strong desire for continuous improvement.
Strong verbal and written communication skills including superior interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Able to work evenings and weekends as required.
Serving it Right certification or ability to get one (must be of legal age).
