The Role
The Software Engineer IIis responsible fordesigning developing andmaintainingsoftware applications working on both backend and frontend systems and contributing to the overall growth and innovation of our public safety product offerings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions while continuously improving your technicalexpertise.
What You Do
- Design implement test andmaintainhigh-quality software solutions that align with business needs and project requirements.
- Work closely with product owners designers and other engineers to understand product requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Ensure code quality by writing clean efficient and well-documented code. Perform unit testing integration testing and code reviews.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects production issues and technical problems.
- Contribute to the design and architecture of software applications ensuring scalability reliability and performance.
- Stay up to date with company standards technologies and best practices and apply them to improve the development process and product functionality.
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineersreviewingcodeandofferingconstructive feedback to foster team growth.
- Participate in the teams development process including sprint planning standups and retrospectives. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support teamobjectives departmental needs and overall organizational priorities.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science Engineering ora relatedfield or equivalent industry experience and training.
- 2-5 years of professional experience in software development.
- Proficiencyin programming languages such as C# Python JavaScript or similar.
- Experience with front-end technologies (HTML CSS JavaScript) and back-end frameworks ( etc.).
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL MongoDB or similar.
- Experience with Git and other version control systems.
- Familiarity with unit testing and integration testing frameworks.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills with a focus on problem-solving and solution delivery.
- Familiarity with agile development practices including Scrum or Kanban.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Asset Qualifications:
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (JenkinsAzureDevOps etc..) Docker Kubernetes or other DevOps tools.
- Experience with cloud services like AWS or Azure.
- Experience designing or working with APIs API based architecture and API Management tools.
- Knowledge ofadditionalprogramming languages (e.g. Delphi Java) or frameworks (e.g. WPF WinForms).
- Familiarity with AI tooling in development workflows.
This position requires security clearances due to the nature of our work with public safety must be legally authorized to work in Canada and must successfully obtain andmaintaina Reliability security clearance from the Government of Canada. Additionally candidates mustcomply withthe FBIs Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and pass a comprehensive fingerprint-based background check.
