The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Public Health Division (PHD) is recruiting to an experienced and visionary leader to serve as Deputy Public Health Director. As a key member of the executive leadership team this position acts as second-in-command and trusted advisor to the State Public Health Director with full authority to perform all statutory functions in their absence.

In this pivotal role you will lead division-wide strategic planning oversee statewide public health initiatives and drive efforts to eliminate health inequities across Oregon. You will ensure that science and community needs guide program direction foster strong partnerships with local and Tribal health authorities and maintain constant awareness of emerging public health risks and opportunities.

This position manages the Policy and Partnerships Unit shaping legislative strategy administrative rulemaking and statewide accountability systems that influence the future of Oregons public health system. What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications: These qualifications must be reflected in your application for consideration.

  • Seven years of management experience

OR

  • Four years of management experience and a bachelors degree in a related field.

  • Equity-Focused Leader: Committed to eliminating health inequities and ensuring community needs guide policy and program decisions.
  • Adaptive Problem Solver: Skilled in managing emerging risks and opportunities providing situational awareness and developing innovative solutions under pressure.

  • This announcement is one full-time permanent representation type: management service Public Health Deputy Director (Administrator 2) based in Portland Oregon.
  • Employment is contingent upon a criminal records check that meets OHA criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.
  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying range. If the successful candidate qualifies for PERS the salary range will increase by 6.95%. For more information see the Classification and Compensation page.
