Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Advancement the Executive Director of Development is responsible for cultivating soliciting and stewarding major gifts exceeding $100000 and principal gifts of $1 million or more. This will be accomplished by building relationships with Gillings key donors board members advisory committee members and both individual and corporate new prospects. The Executive Director of Development serves as deputy to the Associate Dean for Advancement and will supervise a team of major gift development officers providing day-to-day supervision and strategic oversight.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Previous management experience is required. Must demonstrate a strong understanding of the nature and purpose of higher education. The candidate must understand the basic principles and techniques of successful fundraising as they pertain to the identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of individual donors. A qualified candidate will also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills written and oral communication abilities a demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and acute organizational skills. Business travel and periodic weekend work is required.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
A current or previous connection to UNC is preferred as is experience in closing gifts over $100000. A qualified candidate will have a minimum of seven years of major gift fundraising experience which must include a minimum of one year in direct ask solicitations.
