Program Duration

Our internship program runs approximately 40 hours per week from June 1st through mid-August.

The Impact You Will Have

The underwriting intern will be responsible for assisting Underwriters with processing Client renewals and proposals rating benefit changes completing Client ERISA 5500 reports and other projects for Clients with over 50 eligible employees. The intern in this position needs to be able to work with many different types of people and be able to adapt to different situations using analytical and problem-solving skills.

As an Intern you will learn and be exposed to

  • Real world knowledge of working with clients and internal customers
  • Hands on experience working with Health Care products and their design and implementation
  • Interact with Underwriters Actuaries Account Managers and other Blue Cross staff

Your Responsibilities

  • Research client member and benefit data using a variety of tools and software including Microsoft Office / Excel
  • Produce Client reports and rating output
  • Assist in finalizing enrollment settlements
  • Social Networking

Required Skills and Experience

To be considered for this internship candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an educational program for the duration of the internship.
  • Junior or Senior with a Math Statistics Finance or Liberal Arts major
  • Must be motivated organized and possess strong communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience helpful but not necessary

Role Designation

Anchored in Connection

Our hybrid approach is designed to balance flexibility with meaningful in-person connection and collaboration. We come together in the office two days each week most teams designate at least one anchor day to ensure team interaction. These in-person moments foster relationships creativity and alignment. The rest of the week you are empowered to work remote.

Compensation and Benefits

$22.50 - $23.50 - $24.50 Hourly

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position including skills ability and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
