We are seeking a driven and talented Electrical Engineering Summer Intern to join our team. This position focuses on AMD VHDL design with opportunities to apply your knowledge of machine learning principles to cutting-edge projects. As part of our engineering team you will work in a collaborative innovative environment to support advanced design and development efforts in the fields of aerospace and defense.

What will you do:

• Develop simulate and verify VHDL designs targeting AMD FPGA platforms.
• Collaborate on the development and optimization of FPGA-based systems for aerospace and defense applications.
• Integrate machine learning principles into hardware design workflows to enhance system performance.
• Assist in the implementation and validation of hardware/software co-design projects.
• Document design processes results and technical findings to share with internal teams.
• Support troubleshooting debugging and testing of FPGA systems.
• Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute innovative ideas to solve engineering challenges.

Qualifications You Must Have

• This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelors (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum entering their (Sophomore year) by the start of summer 2026.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelors or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Coursework or experience in VHDL coding FPGA design and simulation.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Familiarity with hardware acceleration for machine learning algorithms.

• Knowledge of aerospace and defense systems is a plus. Familiarity with AMD FPGA platforms and tools (e.g. Vivado ModelSim etc.).
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and their practical applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The salary range for this role is 37000 USD - 82000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
