The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking a Mid-level or Senior Metallurgical Engineer for the 787 Engineering Support Team in North Charleston SC. As an M&P engineer you will define engineering requirements to develop select or recommend parts materials processes manufacturing technologies machinery tools and automation systems used in product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Additionally you will qualify new materials parts and processes to meet requirements and manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform engineering design review and failure analysis.
Conduct material and part qualification.
Define analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools materials parts or processes to drive subsequent corrective or preventative actions.
Utilize project management tools to meet cost technical and schedule requirements while incorporating environmental health and safety LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes (2) research design and qualification (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.
Effective communication organization and team-oriented skills
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry
3 years experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3 years experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications related to metallic materials and metals processing
Experience with metallographic sample preparation and lab work (cutting polishing etching)
Proficient with aerospace metals technology
Experience with machined parts qualification
Experience with forging qualification
