Job Summary

Job Title:	Research Assistant - Neuroscience
Physical Location:	Kent Campus - Kent OH
Salary:	$35568 - $41000
Basic Function:	We are seeking a full-time research assistant in the Department of Anthropology at Kent State University. The position is funded by National Institute on Aging grants (5 years) to examine the interrelationship of age-related changes in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases as well as neurodegenerative diseases in humans and nonhuman primates to understand their impact on longevity and health span.
Additional Basic Function if applicable:
Examples of Duties:	Duties/essential functions may include but not be limited to the following: The successful candidate will be responsible for performing histology immunohistochemistry advanced unbiased stereology and protein addition the candidate will assist in day-to-day laboratory management ordering supplies training students on experimental techniques data analyses scientific presentations drafting publications and other duties as assigned by the principal investigators.

Minimum Qualifications:	A bachelors or masters degree in neuroscience biology biotechnology or biomedical sciences Prior experience (1-2 years) in a laboratory setting Highly motivated dependable and consistently on time Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Effective problem-solving skills Adherence to rigorous scientific and ethical standards for research Demonstrate professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively within a team License/Certification: Knowledge Of: Skill In: Ability To:
Preferred Qualifications if applicable:	Experience with Excel IBM SPSS GraphPad Prism and Image J software Knowledge of human or nonhuman primate neuroanatomy
