Sephora SEAs omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia India Indonesia Malaysia New Zealand the Philippines Singapore and Thailand) with 100 stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e. Click and collect and marketplace).

Head of HR & Education Singapore & Malaysia (SGMY)

Reporting directly to the General Manager SGMY (Singapore & Malaysia) and functionally into the HR Vice-President SEA you will create and lead strategic people initiatives for Sephora SGMY. Leading a dynamic HR & Education Team you will devise and deploy an innovative and contemporary human resources strategy and policy framework that enables the organization to meet its business objectives via a skilled and engaged workforce. You will take ownership of the development and successful deployment of best practice processes for recruiting payroll people development internal communications recognizing and rewarding teams at both retail and corporate level. You will have the ultimate responsibility for all people/HR-based activities within our SGMY business from both an operational and strategic perspective.

Working effectively with the HR centers of excellence (COE) within the regional HR team you will ensure the needs of your stakeholders are met and that the COEs understand your business challenges.

Strategic Human Capital Management

  • Craft and deploy theappropriate humancapital strategies and people programs for a high- growth market
  • Participate in organization design and review and deploy programs and initiatives to enable growth strategies
  • Guide and deploy change management practices to support the growthobjectivesof the country

Creating a culture

  • Leading a team introducing industry leading initiatives and programmes to position Sephora as an employer of choice
  • Develop and deploy employee-centricity and team engagement to drive performance and create a winning culture and an internal love mark

Business Partnering

  • Build collaborative and trusting personal relationship with key stakeholdersanticipatingbusiness needs and implementappropriate initiatives
  • Working with the functional heads to build organization and people capabilities improving workforce profile to increase efficiencies for long term business growth
  • Support andfacilitatetalent development
  • Building collaborative relationships and synergies with theRegionalHR teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Work withtheRegionalRewards teamon salary and benefits benchmarking exercises and surveys toestablishand maintain a competitive reward structure
  • Develop new as well as review and enhance existing reward policies to ensure compliance and relevance

Performance Management

  • Manage the Annual Performance Review and Annual Salary Review & Promotion cycles.
  • Work with Business Units to ensuretimelysubmissions includingappropriate justificationsfor promotion recommendations.
  • Coach and provide guidance to Managers on managing performance issues at all levels including performance coaching and Performance Improvement Plans and providing support with staff exits when necessary.

Workforce Planning

  • Analyse the local labour market andmonitorand manage organisation structure workforceheadcountandmanpowercosts to support businessobjectives.
  • Drive a robust succession planning and talent development outcomes for the country.
  • Prepare and manage HR budget working closely with Finance on variance and forecasting of people cost.
  • Prepare monthlyquarterlyand annual headcount report to HQ for tracking of employee turnover absenteeism diversity etc.

Ethics & Compliance

  • Ensure policies and processes are in-line with locallaborlaws and Group policies.
  • Ensure HR activities are carried outin accordance withpolicies - including employee and industrial relations.
  • Ensure best practices for ethics & compliance are implemented and propagated acrossdifferent locations.

HR Information Systems

  • Champion and drive the employee usage of Sephora HR systems such as leave application performance management etc.
  • Ensure master data integrity in HR system through regular audits of system data.

Talent

  • Advocate and champion best practices in talent management & succession planning with business stakeholders
  • Facilitate and drive the talent agenda through regular execution of talent reviews.
  • Provide consultancy and advisory services as a trusted partner to the business stakeholders on organizational design transitions interventions development and separations.
  • Engage business leaders HR and Finance in the creation and tracking ofshort & long termmanpowerplans and budgets.
  • Participate & collaborate with the Talent COE during hiring of critical/strategic positions.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to ensure that every pillar of HR is aligned with to the business strategy including rewards mobility HRIS talentlearningand compliance.

Learning & Development

  • Perform learning needs analysis through consultation with the business leaders.
  • Identifyand develop learning programs to close learning gaps within the learning budget in collaboration with the Talent COE.
  • Ensure all regional HR talent and learning programs are deployed.
  • Ensure that learning investments are aligned with talent & business strategy
  • Monitor and establish KPIs for learning and ensure your business stakeholders are on track
  • Deliver presentations or employee training when necessary.

Education

  • Work closely with the Head of Retail to align and execute onaEducation strategy to ensure retail teams are trained.
  • Lead a team of brand and field trainers acrossSGMYand ensure that retail trainingobjectivesare executed.
  • Align and deliver training cascaded from Sephora University.
  • Monitor and establish KPIs for education.
  • Deliver presentations or employee training when necessary.

We would love to hear from you if you are/have

  • A degree in Human Resources Psychology Business or any other relevant field & experience with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a HR role with hands-on operational experience
  • Relevant Retail FMCG and/or Ecommerce industry experience will be beneficial.
  • Team management experience.
  • Demonstrates initiative innovation and drive for results with an end in mind.
  • Strong communication skills handles difficult situations with diplomacy and tact and uses indirect influence to build consensus and support.
  • Dedication to teamwork with all team members and stakeholders across functions.
