We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple clinical laboratory disciplines including Molecular Pathology Cytogenetics and HLA testing within a fast-paced high-complexity clinical environment. These laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program and the CAP ISO 15189 Accreditation addition the HLA lab is accredited by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) which supports the institutions bone marrow transplant program and provides transfusion support.
Reporting directly to the Director-Molecular Pathology Operations the Senior Manager will have direct management responsibility for Clinical Laboratory Managers in these labs and is accountable for the labs operational and financial performance staffing effectiveness and alignment with institutional priorities. The role collaborates extensively with divisional and departmental operational leadership assay development teams quality and informatics partners and laboratory staff to support the integration of new technologies and evolving clinical workflows. The Senior Manager plays a key leadership role in maintaining business and financial operations including procurement and contracting activities accreditation readiness supporting a continuous improvement culture managing risk and supporting inspections and audits.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication leadership and personnel management skills along with the adaptability and intellectual curiosity required to learn and support new workflows platforms and technologies as they are introduced into the clinical laboratory. The role requires strong scientific expertise in molecular biology including next-generation sequencing as well as a deep understanding of complex laboratory processes instrumentation informatics and data interpretation.

Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage planning and execution of processes across multiple clinical labs.
- Lead complex projects related to assay development and continual improvement in assigned laboratory.
- Guide team leads/ managers inplanning and execution by respective lab teams including related data analysis interpretation and reporting; and oversee timely planning maintenance and troubleshooting for equipment across areas.
- Oversee maintenance of standard operating procedures across labs within scope.
- Ensure continuous improvement within clinical labs around processes and quality standards.
- Proactively collaborate and engage with internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of lab outcomes.
- Lead systems for governance monitoring review and control of processes and functions performed within clinical labs.
- Support development of team budget for clinical labs and actively track and manage budget.
- Engage in hiring performance management and other people processes with greater independence.
- Oversee processesrelated to goal setting training & skill development and engagement for own teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelors degree in medical technology or in one of the biological chemical or physical sciences and completion of a medical laboratory or histology training program
- Masters degree is strongly preferred.
- PhD preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- 8 years of relevant experience with a bachelors degree.
- Experience Exception: 6 years of relevant experience with a masters degree.
- Experience Exception: 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
- Significant experience with relevant accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing teams in a supervisory/ leadership capacity including lab supervision/ personnel and operations management responsibilities.
- Experience driving delivery through teams around lab equipment operations medical technology techniques and execution of specialized lab test procedures.
- Extensive experience leading complex projects/deliveryend to end including resource planning and management and communication and collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.
Licensure Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
- For MLS TN license as a Medical Laboratory Supervisor-General or Categorical is required within six (6) months of hire.
Licensure Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- Professional certification in assigned discipline required within 6 months of joining (e.g. Medical Technologist(MT)/ Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)/ Histotechnician(HT)/ Histotechnologist(HTL) by ASCP/ AMT).
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets experience and training licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104000 - $186160 per year for the role of Sr. Manager-Molecular Pathology.
