Associate Workers Compensation
About the Role:
As a Workers Compensation Associate you will play an active role in all phases of litigation from initial case evaluation through trial and appeal. You will collaborate with senior attorneys to develop litigation strategy assess claim exposure and guide clients toward effective and efficient resolutions.
This role provides significant courtroom exposure and the opportunity to manage files conduct legal research draft pleadings and motions review medical documentation and represent clients in hearings and trials. You will work directly with employers carriers and third-party administrators serving as a trusted advisor throughout the claims process.
The position is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and wants to sharpen advocacy and case management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in initial case evaluation and development of litigation strategy
- Evaluate the merits and exposure of workers compensation claims
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients TPAs insurers and employers
- Conduct legal research and draft correspondence pleadings motions appeals and appellate briefs
- Draft and respond to written discovery requests
- Review and analyze medical records
- Prepare for and attend trials
- Represent clients in discovery motion practice hearings and trials
- Assist in preparing settlement agreements and case resolutions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New Jersey Bar (required)
- Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar (preferred but not required)
- 1 3 years of experience in New Jersey Workers Compensation law preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced litigation practice
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant legal software
