Role Overview

SGS runs a multi-team development processoperatingusingAgilemethodologiesand build enterprise grade world class utilitycontrol systems of the highest quality. The candidate will be expected totake a leading rolewithin an Agile software development process certified torigorousISO standards.

This is aSeniorSoftware Developerrole. The candidate willbecome part ofthe software engineering and product development function within the organizationbeing responsible fordesigningdevelopingtestingreleasing andmaintaininga suite of products according to agreedproduct roadmapsand companystrategy.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a senior member of an Agile Scrum team andparticipatein daily stand-ups.

  • Develop high quality code to budget and timescale according to the defined company standards and quality processes.

  • Work with the product team to translate functional requirements into software solutions andwritestories appropriate for the team to develop.

  • Work cooperatively with the teamTechnical LeadArchitectsProduct OwnersScrum Master and fellow developers.

  • Participate in code reviewtestingand integration tasks whenrequired.

  • Write and review technical documentation to a high standard and following company standards.

  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of the languages tools and methodologies used by the company andparticipatein the continuous improvement and evolution of the standards and best practices.

  • Mentor less experienced team members and contribute tomaintaininga culture of quality and consistency of product.

  • Contribute to the ongoing technical innovation of the team by bringing relevant products techniques thoughts and ideas into the team.

What we are looking for

  • Hons Degree in Computing Science Software Engineering or related discipline or relevant industry experience.

  • A minimum of5years relevant industry experience.

  • Experience being a Team Lead or senior member of a team of developers.

  • Track recordof deliveringinnovativereal-world solutionsdemonstratinginitiativeandthe ability to take a project from design to delivery.

  • ExtensiveJava knowledge & experience.

  • Experience of object-oriented event-drivenand/or reactive software design methodologies and tools.

  • Experience of working within a team-based software lifecyclemethodology(Agile) delivering tasks to budget and timescale.

  • Excellent knowledge of product lifecycle including installation support and security.

  • Experience of Test Driven and/or Behaviour Driven Development.

  • Delivering within a CI/CD environment.

It would be great if you have

  • Experience of working within an ISO certified QA environment.

  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in a team environment.

  • Experience of working with architects and technical leads to assist in quality software design.

  • Experience of C# and Core.

  • Experience of Modelling Languages (UML ERD ORM).

  • Experience of database technologies messagingtechnologiesand containerisation technologies.

  • AWS or equivalent cloud-hostingenvironments.

  • Experience of working with Spring Boot.

  • Experience in developing RESTful microservices.

  • Knowledge of the Atlassian suite of tools including JIRA and Confluence or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of cyber-security principles and secure coding practices
