About the role

We are looking for a Sustainable Agriculture Extension Officer to join the team on a permanent full-time this pivotal role you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of on-farm initiatives in emissions reduction carbon sequestration and sustainable agricultural practices across Australia. Supported by a technical team you will balance an understanding of agricultural production systems with practical in-field engagement to help producers participate in a variety of programs and market opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of technical reports for a variety of audiences; carbon project feasibility reports farm emissions assessments and project support materials.
  • Assisting with the administration delivery and reporting for Elders industry partnership projects.
  • Design planning & delivery of in-field extension activities with Elders internal stakeholders and farming clients Providing support in all areas of the sales process as well as running the office.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor and representative of Elders delivering professional client engagement workshops presentations and clear guidance on carbon schemes and emissions reduction pathways.
  • Lead delivery of high-quality carbon project feasibility assessments and farm emissions reports using spatial tools and carbon models to support soil carbon and environmental plantings projects.
  • Manage projects end-to-end to agreed scope budget and timelines including subcontractor coordination partner collaboration reporting and milestone delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients partners and internal stakeholders representing Elders within industry and community settings and contributing insights on carbon market trends and opportunities.

About you

  • Have a related tertiary qualification in: Ag Science Agronomy Livestock Production Sustainable Agriculture Natural Resource Management or related fields.
  • Have an unencumbered drivers licence with the ability to travel to regional areas.
  • Proven experience in agricultural client stakeholder and industry engagement including presentations at regional or higher-level events
  • Strong understanding of farming practices and operations particularly within livestock production and the ACCU Scheme for agricultural carbon sequestration
  • Foundational knowledge of relevant carbon methodologies (Soil Carbon 2021 and/or Revegetation EP 2024) alongside GIS and spatial mapping principles
  • Strong hands-on background in farming production agronomy pasture and land management including soil sampling testing data analysis and use of emissions tools (GAF calculators FullCAM).
  • Experience designing registering and delivering ACCU-eligible offset projects supported by formal report writing and knowledge of Australias mandatory climate-related risk reporting framework.
  • Based in regional area of NSW or VIC or with ready access to these areas on a regular basis.
