REPORTS TO: Director of Elementary and Secondary Schools
OVER-TIME STATUS: EXEMPT PAY GRADE:
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs difficult professional and administrative work in the administration and supervision of of a school setting and its programs; primacy is given to serving as the instructional leader; maintains an atmosphere of mutual respect and courtesy while establishing high expectations of all employees and students; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief of Staff. Supervision is exercised over teaching and support staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the philosophy policies and goals of the School Board.
- Serves as the instructional leader in the building through a variety of activities;
- Confers and collaborates with the appropriate director relating to middle school programs;
- Plans organizes and directs the implementation of specific needs of school and school activities;
- Delegates specific instructional and non-instructional responsibilities to appropriate individuals;
- Evaluates all professional employees and supervises the evaluation of classified employees;
- Provides leadership and direction in school- based staff development programs;
- Maintains accurate records and reports of financial dealings pertaining to the school;
- Supervises the preparation and maintenance of all school reports and records;
- Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication with employees students and the community; Serves on division-wide regional and State committees as necessary;
- Promote the M/WBE Program and M/WBE participation in the contracting and procurement activities of their schools or departments;
- Integrate the M/WBE Program components into procurement practices and processes;
- Ensure M/WBE Program compliance within the schools and departments;
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve the annual and project participation goals established by the M/WBE Program;
- Monitor and report minority and women business participation as required by M/WBE Program Policy;
- Participate in annual goal-setting process
- Performs related tasks as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Comprehensive knowledge of the practices methods and techniques used in the administration and supervision of the a school principalship; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with and through others; outstanding leadership and personal characteristics.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally up to 10 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires standing and walking; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in administration and supervision preK.Can demonstrate knowledge of principles practices materials and equipment used in modern a public school education setting and an ability to apply them to the needs of the school; knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices and trends; knowledge of public school organization and administration; ability to plan organize and coordinate comprehensive secondary school instructional programs and co-curricular and extracurricular activities; ability to plan supervise and evaluate the work of instructional and support personnel; ability to develop effective working relationships with students staff community and the general public; and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
