POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT


Position:Health Services Director - FT Regular

Pay Grade: E8

Hiring Range: $84153.06 - $109034.77 - 121473.31 (Commensurate with Verified Qualifications)
Status: Exempt - Bi-weekly Pay Background Check: Extensive

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for directing the overall health care services and operations provided by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians offered from their two clinic locations. This direction includes facilitating the improved health status of Native Americans through the development planning implementation evaluation and delivery of direct care programs to tribal membership and service eligible patients.


EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Necessary Qualifications

A Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration Business Administration or Public Health; and

Five (5) years experience in a healthcare setting; and

A minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience specifically managing health services; and

Demonstrated familiarity with a variety of health care practices procedures systems and standards; and

Strong work history developing and implementing services and programs; and

Demonstrated knowledge of billing and coding software electronic health record systems; and

Valid Drivers License with the ability to be insured under the companys insurance policy.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Establishes and coordinates the work plans priorities and resource allocation of the department ensuring assignments and goals are clearly linked to the needs of the community and organization.

2. Supervises staff and department functions including the proper delegation of hiring/termination recommendations staff training and counseling and scheduling.

3. Directs and participates in the development interpretation evaluation and presentation of policies procedures rules and regulations in collaboration with the Health Commission.

4. Ensures staff records and facilities are in compliance with Privacy HIPPA and all other Laws and Regulations specified by the Tribe U.S. Government and the State of Michigan as applicable.

5. Designs implements and promotes strategic and long-range program concepts plans and budgets.

6. Determines fiscal requirements of the department and prepares budgetary recommendations; monitors verifies and reconciles expenditure of budgeted funds consistent with fiscal management policies.

7. Ensures the development implementation and monitoring of systems to support the revenue generation cycle.

8. Identifies perceived statistically based and anticipated community health needs by establishing personal rapport with individual members of the service delivery community and by initiating overseeing and analyzing results of health and wellness needs surveys or other tribal data sources.

9. Collects and analyzes data; generates comprehensive narrative and statistical reports. Presents reports to Health Commission Ogema Tribal Council and community.

10. Coordinates efforts with resource development staff on funding sources and grant development.

11. Ensures the Tribal Federal and applicable State regulatory and licensing standards are met.

12. Represents the Tribes health programs by promoting programs and events contributing to community and inter-tribal programs and groups.

13. Coordinates with other tribal and community services to enhance access of services and resources.

14. Represents the department or organization in meetings with Tribal Council other Tribes Indian Health Services (IHS) other outside agencies or in seminars.

15. Other position related duties as assigned by the Ogema or Executive Leadership.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct supervision of multiple managers. Responsible for interviewing hiring training rewarding and disciplining of subordinates in addition to planning assigning and directing work.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting or standing for long periods of time frequent walking and occasional lifting reaching bending kneeling or stretching is to be expected. The nature of the work also involves manual dexterity to operate office equipment and while keyboarding. An employee will need normal or corrected to normal range of sight and hearing and will routinely carry work-related materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work may involve exposure to infections communicable diseases contaminated materials bodily fluids and radiation resulting in the need to wear protective equipment such as masks eye protection rubber gloves and gowns.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a climate controlled medical office environment. The employees work schedule may frequently need to be flexible and adjusted according to business need. The employee must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional as well as be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary to attend meetings or training.
