Position SummaryThe Theatre Production and Technical Operations Assistant supports the day-to-day production and technical operations of the SHU Community Theatre. This position assists with lighting sound video and projection systems; supports pre-production planning live event execution and post-event strike; and helps ensure safe efficient and high-quality performances and events. The role may also provide occasional front-of-house and audience services support as Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with setup operation and strike of lighting sound video and projection pre-production planning and preparation for performances and backstage during live events including scene changes and artist technical equipment in support of performances and clean organized and safe stage and backstage occasional front-of-house support including audience box office operations as with professional staff student employees and visiting other duties as assigned to support theatre Skills Abilities & Other AttributesHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree or coursework in Theatre Technical Theatre Arts Management or a related field of 1-2 years of experience supporting live performances theatrical productions or technical event operations in an educational professional or community knowledge of technical theatre and live event production including lighting sound video projection and backstage to operate and assist with standard theatrical and audiovisual organizational skills with the ability to follow and support production schedules and to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff students artists and visiting to supervise or provide direction to student employees and production crew as to maintain a safe organized and professional backstage and performance Working ConditionsPosition is based on-site at the Sacred Heart University Community weekends and varying hours are required based on event active role requiring standing lifting and working backstage during performances.
