TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8000 students located in Laredo Texas a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery teaching and learning community engagement and public service and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information please visit is a9-month tenure-track faculty position (with a reduced course load and a research start-up package). Primary duties will include(1) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Public Administration and Political Science; (2) contributing to enhance and innovate program curricula courses and pedagogical materials and techniques; (3) conducting research and publishing in the discipline; (4) participating in the accreditation and governance activities of our NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program (5) serving on departmental college university and professional committees as well as mentoring students. A reduced load (2-2 for the first 2 years plus research funds and conference travel money) is provided to new hires to allow them to focus on conducting research and publishing in scholarly journals. Duties also includewriting external grant proposals (i.e. capacity building degree program development programmatic and/or research) that will help advance and enhance the program. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

The successful candidate must hold aPhD in Public Administration or a related field. Candidates who are ABD will also be considered but must have earned their degree before August 16 2026. We are looking for candidates with primary research and teaching interests in program evaluation and public policy. The successful candidate will also be able to teach courses in research methods. We strongly encourage candidates with research and teaching interests that would complement our current faculty and strengthen our undergraduate and graduate programs. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong research skills strong teaching skills a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or the potential to publish in top scholarly journals and the potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding.
