Job Summary

What you will do:

The Summer Law Student will support the Legal Department by assisting with a variety of corporate and commercial legal matters. Working closely with inhouse counsel the student will gain practical experience in legal research drafting contract review litigation management and project support. This role is ideal for a motivated detailoriented individual looking to develop strong legal and professional skills in a collaborative fastpaced environment.

This student position is for the Summer 2026 term from April to August 2026. This is a hybrid position (3 in-office days per week). Office location is 1303 Yonge Street in Toronto.

The Summer Law Student will:

  • Work collaboratively with the members of the Legal Department on a wide range of legal files corporate initiatives and departmental matters;

  • Participate in commercial negotiations and assist with the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts;

  • Draft letters and other legal and business documents;

  • Manage and coordinate commercial legal and regulatory matters including regulatory and compliance filings;

  • Provide assistance to the companys business and functional units in their day-to-day operations;

  • Assist with updating the Legal Departments commercial precedents;

  • Participate in corporate merger acquisitions divestitures restructuring and other transactions;

  • Conduct due diligence and document review for transactions projects and corporate initiatives;

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda;

  • Review and analyze legal and business issues and propose next steps;

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to gather information support legal workflows and ensure the smooth resolution of the project or initiative;

  • Attend meetings and participate in a variety of legal transactions and business initiatives;

  • Assist with file management including initial review status updates and maintaining organized records and tracking systems.

Our Summer Law Student program is open to law students who:

  • Are currently enrolled in a post-secondary J.D. / LL.B legal program at a law school recognized by the Law Society of Ontario; and

  • Have successfully completed at least their first year of law school.

What You Will Need:

  • Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook Excel Word PowerPoint OneNote and Teams);

  • Experience with legal research platforms (e.g. Westlaw Lexis CanLII);

  • Ability to use virtual meeting platforms and manage scheduling (Teams Zoom WebEx); and

  • Strong digital organization skills including file structuring naming conventions and version control.

  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of discretion corporate confidentiality and solicitor-client privilege;

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills great work ethic and ability to work in a team;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft clear concise and wellreasoned documents;

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities meet deadlines and adapt to shifting demands in a fastpaced environment; and

  • Proactive resourceful and selfmotivated with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
