Position Overview
The Senior Director of Human Resources serves as a strategic partner to university leadership and provides comprehensive oversight of payroll employee benefits and human resources operations. This role ensures institutional compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws including COBRA FMLA and related regulations. The Senior Director functions as a key resource to administration and employees regarding payroll benefits policy interpretation and regulatory compliance.
Major Responsibilities
- Exercises sound judgment and discretion in assessing situations and determining appropriate priorities.
- Partner with the Vice President of Business & Finance in the planning and execution of annual insurance renewals and benefits strategy.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs including health insurance retirement plans and related offerings.
- Supervise payroll and human resources staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and payroll records.
- Manage and monitor the Human Resources departmental budget.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to leadership on trends and recommendations.
- Serve as Chair of the Staff Affairs Committee.
- Provide guidance to departments and staff regarding the interpretation and application of payroll and benefits laws policies procedures and regulations.
- Under the direction of the Vice President of Business & Finance make technical and administrative decisions requiring analysis and interpretation of data policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state employment regulations including COBRA and FMLA.
Organization Relationships
- Reports directly to the Vice President of Business & Finance.
- Collaborates closely with university leadership department heads and employees to support institutional objectives.
Qualifications
- An openly committed Christian who demonstrates a Spirit-filled life and is an active attendee of an Assemblies of God church.
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field required; a minimum of five (5) years of professional HR experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefits administration payroll systems and employment law compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word and Outlook).
- Strong organizational analytical and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
