The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is seeking a Deputy Director of Strategic Engagement to serve in the Intergovernmental Affairs team situated within the Strategy Unit in the Commissioners Office. The Strategy Unit is comprised of Policy Intergovernmental Affairs and Communications which work together to advance the core objectives of the agency. The Deputy Director of Strategic Engagement would report to the Director of Government Affairs and will manage elected official and stakeholder engagement to advance key bus projects bike projects and other agency policies and particular the Deputy Director will focus on advancing the administrations commitment to fast and free buses. Duties and Responsibilities: The Deputy Director will:- Advance Mayoral and agency priorities and special projects by creating and maintaining relationships with elected officials and their staff key stakeholders and advocates and work closely with internal DOT divisions the Mayors Offices of Intergovernmental City State and Federal Affairs the office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations and other City Hall and DOT advocate partners.- Work with Borough Commissioners to help address community concerns and resolve various transportation and planning issues relating to Streets Plan and other agency goals.- Collaborate closely with key DOT divisions including Transit Development the Bike Unit and Research Implementation and Safety to develop transformative transit and safety projects with political strategy in mind.- Support agency leadership to plan public events and coordinate special projects assist with preparation for meetings hearings and events attended by the Commissioner and other DOT staff represent the Commissioner at meetings and events execute public outreach and stakeholder engagement on key projects and other Signiant initiatives and capital investments and oversee the development of presentations and materials in consultation with DOT division staff.- Build coalitions with elected officials and advocates for various project-based campaigns.

Qualifications :
Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience.- At least 4 years of experience in government public policy legislative affairs budgeting or a related eld.- Demonstrated understanding of New York City and New York State governments budgeting processes and legislative dynamics.- Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience drafting policy and advocacy materials.- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced political environment.
