VACANCY: Continuing Airworthiness Manager (CAM)
REPORTING: AOC Accountable Manager
LOCATION: Durban
Starlite Aviation Operations (Pty) Ltd has a requirement for a knowledgeable proactive and safety-focused individual to fill a position as a Continuing Airworthiness Manager (CAM).
As the CAM you are responsible for ensuring that all maintenance is carried out by suitably approved maintenance organisation(s) in accordance with the relevant approved maintenance programme on time and to an approved standard.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and develop maintenance programmes for the aircraft managed by the organisation.
- Present maintenance programmes to the competent authority for approval and provide a copy to the owners operator.
- Ensure the approval of modifications and repairs.
- Ensure modifications and repairs (changes) are carried out to an approved standard.
- Ensure all maintenance is carried out in accordance with the approved maintenance programme and released in accordance with the relevant regulations.
- Ensure all applicable airworthiness directives and operational directives with a continued airworthiness impact is applied.
- Ensure that the aircraft is taken to an appropriately approved maintenance organisation whenever necessary.
- Ensure all known defects are rectified.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance apply airworthiness directives replace service life limited parts and component inspections to ensure work is carried out properly.
- Manage and prepare all continuing airworthiness records.
- Ensure the weight and balance statement reflects the status of the aircraft.
- Ensure a strong relationship with the maintenance contractor(s) and establishment of a Maintenance Contract.
- Ensure that the Certificate of Airworthiness for each aircraft remains valid in respect of:
- The Airworthiness of the aircraft
- The expiry date specified on the Airworthiness Review Certificate; and
- Any other condition specified in the Certificate.
- Report any occurrences of a maintenance nature to the relevant organisations. This includes both Mandatory occurrences and occurrences related to maintenance findings which fall outside the Mandatory scheme.
- The amendment and control of the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition.
- Review and implement as appropriate any additional requirements.
- Apply and review the continuing airworthiness management arrangement(s).
- Enforce the QSMS and build a positive quality and safety culture
- Assume responsibility as the Part 101 Responsible Person: Aircraft for Starlite Aviation Operations (Pty) Ltd.
CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Calm under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Effective stakeholder coordination and collaboration.
- Excellent English communication (verbal and written); other languages a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours when operational requirements demand.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The following is essential for this position:
- Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
- 10 years aviation technical experience preferably in a similar role.
- Minimum 2 years experience in an aviation executive role or prior. service as an aviation Quality Manager.
- At least 1-year direct working experience with SACAA.
- Must not have been the Quality Manager of the assigned AMO.
- Within the preceding 5 years the candidate must not have held a similar role at an organisation whose approval was suspended or cancelled by SACAA.
- Competence in maintenance planning systems and effective utilisation of AMO resources systems and equipment across operational bases.
- Deep understanding of helicopter and fixed-wing service schedules and maintenance procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of AMO and aircraft manufacturer technical documentation including service letters and bulletins.
- Solid understanding of aviation laws regulations and operating standards.
- Good working knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
