The AVP Pharmacy Benefit Management is a key member of the Group Divisions leadership team with complete management accountability for the development and execution of the pharmacy benefits strategy for the Group insurance business. The incumbent will leverage market industry health and pharmaceutical knowledge to develop and manage a portfolio of solutions related to drug plan management and disease management driving business impact and an exceptional service experience for all clients. The role also supports business development teams and external distribution partners (Advisors) delivering pharmacy benefit management know how and positioning product and service options that meet client needs and maintain the value of their benefit ideal candidate will have a seasoned understanding of the Group insurance and Pharmacy management market and a strong track record of successful leadership in a pharmacy and client servicing environment. They will also need to be a strong people leader and coach with a passion for working closely with clients distribution partners and internal peers to accomplish consistent win-win one of the regions top employers and be part of something that truly makes a Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo ON a minimum of two (2) assigned consecutive days every other week plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum youll do:As a member of the Group Leadership team this role is responsible for leading the development and management of pharmacy benefit strategy practices and projects for the Group Division. Responsible for anticipating and managing impacts from Federal and Provincial regulatory guideline changes and public policy; incorporating CADTH/INESSS recommendations leveraging market pricing dynamics and evaluating and managing the impact of Pharma Manufacturers announcements concerning new/existing pharmaceuticals. Lead the Pharmacy Benefit Management team ensuring that processes and practices are consistent with delivering positive client and member experiences operational efficiency and reliable service integration with pharmacy networks and external providers. Coach and develop a team of client facing technical roles providing on-going guidance and continuously advancing a strong employee engagement closely with other Group departments (Product Marketing Pricing Distribution Operations Finance Technology) to support the development of new and existing pharmacy products and services ensuring that features and are aligned with the needs of our clients. Sponsor and lead key projects to advance the capabilities and services of the pharmacy benefit management program. Lead the vendor selection and management process for strategic pharmacy and health partnerships and oversee vendor performance and service delivery. Maintain market presence and brand/product awareness through thought-leadership clearly distinguishing and illustrating unique pharmacy program capabilities. This includes writing articles for trade publications speaking at conferences delivering presentations for distribution partners and participating in industry events. Tell our pharmacy benefit management story by translating clinical and economic insights into simple narratives for clients advisors and distribution teams supporting client meetings and account managementWhat youll bring:A licensed pharmacist with 10 years of progressive experience across pharmacy benefit management private payer programs PBMs Specialty Drug Providers or consulting; with a proven record translating strategy to knowledge of the Canadian healthcare environment provincial formularies pharmacy benefit providers and end-user environments (i.e. Pharmacies Specialty Drug providers)Strong acumen for the Group insurance requirements and pharmacy benefit plan design and management practices. A strong background in process management in a client-facing environment requiring attention to details and experienced in developing maintaining and advancing exceptional client service experiences. Polished negotiation and vendor management skills including RFPs contracting SLAs audits and financial monitoring experience. Experience in developing financial analytics for trend analysis monitoring and reporting claims experience drivers. Proven track record as a strong people leader and a coach; skilled at introducing and managing change while maintaining strong employee engagement. Exceptional presentation and communication skills; strong educator capable of translating complex topics into simple transferable knowledge insights.
