The Supervisor - Second Class Operating Engineer (Facilities Operations) is responsible for ensuring all operation and related work is carried out in compliance with applicable codes standards regulations and legislation. The role provides managing and supervision of skilled and semiskilled staff within the Facility Operations as well as oversight of external service contractors.
This position manages the maintenance and operation of major basebuilding systems including boilers chillers water treatment HVAC medical gas and life and fire safety systemson a 24/7 basis. The Supervisor - Second Class Operating Engineer also ensures the safe and compliant operation of the boiler plant in accordance with TSSA requirements.
Key responsibilities include supporting staff to maintain a productive work environment performing administrative functions and completing other duties assigned or requested by Manager Facilities that are consistent with the job classification.
Qualifications :
- At minimum completion of a 2-year community college program in Mechanical or Electrical Technician or Technologist or recognized equivalent required
- TSSA Class 2 Operating Engineer certification or greater is mandatory.
- At minimum over 4 years of practical and related experience
- Five (5) years of experience of supervisory / managerial positions.
- Hospital experience is an asset.
- Must have excellent organizational planning and time management skills
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to implement sustainable and beneficial change
- Excellent analytical skills required
- Excellent problem resolution skills required
- Excellent labour relations skills required
- Knowledge of collective agreements and managing a unionized workforce required
- Computer literacy required
- Excellent management and leadership skills required
- Detail orientation and initiative required
- Ability to manage budgets required
Professional Affiliations/ Memberships (Preferred):
- Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT);
