Fisheries Biologist
Job Summary
Are you passionate about sustainable fisheries and science that makes a real-world impact Fishery Queensland is looking for a motivated Fisheries Biologist to join their Fisheries Monitoring team and support the management of Queenslands wild fish in Brisbane youll play a key role in delivering state-wide biological monitoring programs that inform fisheries policy stock assessments and long-term sustainability.
What youll do
- Plan and coordinate biological sampling and assessment activities
- Work collaboratively with monitoring teams and Fisheries Queensland colleagues
- Help ensure efficient use of people assets and budgets
- Provide high-quality technical advice to management and stock assessment teams
- Contribute to communication materials supporting biological monitoring
- Take ownership of professional tasks with initiative and accountability
- Apply departmental policies and directives in your work
What were looking for
- A degree in science applied science or a related field
- Strong organisational technical and collaboration skills
- The ability to deliver accurate practical advice in a data-driven environment
- A commitment to equity diversity respect and inclusion
- A current open Class C drivers licence
Eligibility
To be considered you must be an Australian citizen permanent resident or hold a visa with full work rights in Australia. Evidence of eligibility will be required during the selection process.
