Do you believe music has the power to transform students build community and bring learning to life Mulgrave School is seeking an experienced and inspiring IB Diploma Programme Music Teacher to join our dynamic Performing Arts team.


This role is ideal for a passionate educator who thrives in a collaborative environment loves ensemble music-making and is excited to shape a vibrant music programme acrossGrades 612. You will teach IB DP Music while supporting a flourishing co-curricular programme that performs regularly and tours to festivals such as Banff Sun Peaks and Whistler.


With exceptional facilities including dedicated music rooms band rooms multiple practice studios and astate-of-the-art theatre (plus a new dance studio and studio theatre opening this fall) Mulgrave offers an outstanding environment for music education.


The Opportunity

As DP Music Teacher you will:

  • Teach IB Diploma Programme Music and contribute to the broader Upper School Performing Arts programme
  • Create a supportive inquiry-driven learning environment that integrates music technology
  • Inspire students through engaging instruction effective assessment and strong classroom practice
  • Support and lead co-curricular music programmes before and after school
  • Build a joyful inclusive music community rooted in ensemble performance
  • Provide leadership in concert preparation tours special events and performances
  • Maintain an organised stimulating and well-respected music learning space
  • Collaborate with the Director of Performing Arts administration and colleagues on the ongoing development of the MYP integrated performing arts programme
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills time management and a commitment to continuous professional growth

Required Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in Canada (or willing to apply for the appropriate visa with school support)
  • Eligible for or willing to obtain BC teacher certification
  • Bachelors degree in Music or Music Education and a Bachelor of Education (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience teaching music in IB programmes
  • Strong conducting skills
  • Experience teaching integrated performing arts courses (music dance and theatre)
  • Experience in a technology-rich teaching environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills


Preferred Experience and Qualities

  • Background supporting band and/or choral programmes
  • Involvement with the IB Educator Network (Workshop Leader Examiner etc.)
  • Strong organisational interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Ability to work independently while thriving as part of a collaborative team

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidates qualifications and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
