Job Description
The Project
The Alkimos SeaWater Alliance project will deliver WAs next major water source - A new seawater desalination plant at Alkimos. At completion of stage 1 the plant will supply up to 50 billion litres of clean safe drinking water to millions of Western Australians each year.
The project includes the design construction operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels seawater intake system a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant groundwater system drinking water storage and pump system supported by civil electrical and bulk earthworks.
We are seeking an experienced TBM pilot to join our team at Alkimos. Reporting to the supervisor you will be responsible for the following:
Operate the hard rock TBM with a strong emphasis on safety and reporting
Must be able to maintain the line and grade of the tunnel whilst operating the TBM.
Be a part of the TBM build and commissioning
Assist the M & E team with assembly and disassembly of the TBM
All aspects of TBM operation including maintenance of line and grade of the tunnel while steering the TBM a sound knowledge of segment erector and annular grouting systems
Assist with maintenance and repair works
Assist the M & E team with assembly and disassembly of the TBM
Able to work advanced computer systems inbuilt onto the TBM
Able to carry out Electronic shift reporting
Provide mechanical systems assistance in the instance of breakdowns
Perform general tunnelling duties when required
Knowledge of VMT guidance systems
Actively participate in and drive a culture of collaboration discipline innovation adaptability to change and care
Ensure safety and sustainability are always front of mind
Ensure compliance and adhere to Project systems processes and standards
Required Skills and Competencies
General Construction Induction (White Card) (Essential)
5 years TBM operating experience
Hard Rock Double Shield TBM experience
Ability to operate Tunnel Boring Machine and ancillary specialist equipment.
Ability to diagnose and assess breakdowns or malfunctioning equipment.
Provide technical advice as required and suggest innovative solutions to improve current processes
Establish awareness of surrounding activities to have quick and appropriate reactions of unexpected events on shift.
Maintain clear and good communication with team members supervisors and subcontractors
Attention to detail and able to handle multiple tasks at once
