The (3W) Observation/Surg Unit is an exciting fast-paced 21 bed unit located on the 3rd floor of Gottlieb Memorial Hospital. All rooms are private and are centrally monitored if clinically indicated. To work in the Observation Unit our staff need strong assessment skills the ability to think critically and adapt to new challenges along with strong communication skills to care for our patient population and work with our interdisciplinary teams. As an Observation unit we are dedicated to our patients by providing quality care with attention to clinical expertise evidence-based practices patient safety and positive outcomes.
Our patient population includes but is not limited to care of the adult patient with a variety of medical diagnoses of the neurological stroke infectious disease other medical conditions and some cardiac conditions. Patients on our unit may have an average length of stay of 48 hours to four days. We utilize an interdisciplinary team approach along the continuum of care in an effort to provide balance for the physical emotional mental and spiritual needs for every patient and their family.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education:
Preferred: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
Minimum Experience:
Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience
Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Licensure/Certifications:
Required: Certified Nurse Assistant BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA
Other: Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program. Individuals working as Patient Care Assistants at Loyola University Medical Center prior to 1997 are exempt from the above guidelines and are grandfathered into the Patient Care Tech roles upon successful completion of an in-house orientation and training program for the Patient Care Tech position.

Compensation:
Salary Range: $17.30 - $26.81 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience qualifications education location licensure certification requirements and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
