Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSSrelated work Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada by Canadians.

The Intern Project Management will be responsible for assisting the Project Management Office (PMO) team in the successful management of the assigned program. This is a unique opportunity that will provide you with exposure to government contracts supply chain management production support and project management basics in a fast-paced modern shipyard. The incumbent will work closely with the rest of the project management office leading specific tasks as directed by the Project Managers and Project Director. Namely you will provide day-to-day support while assisting and coordinating specific activities.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.

What youll do

  • Assists the Project Manager(s) and Assistant Project Manager(s) in the coordination and execution of assigned project activities and deliverables.
  • Works together with VSY departments including but not limited to estimating contracts planning engineering supply chain production testing and risk management to ensure the project delivers on expectations.
  • Coordinates and helps collate program metrics to measure departmental supplier and contractor program performance.
  • Coordinates the production program reports and presentations that highlight project status and project performance against established goals and objectives.
  • Works with project manager(s) and assistant manager(s) to draft prepare and submit program related proposals.
  • Updates and keeps activity lists up-to date by communicating with related stakeholders.
  • Works with departmental representatives suppliers contractors and team members in resolving outstanding program issues.

What youll bring

  • Enrollment in post-secondary education ideally in Engineering Business or a related field.
  • Interest in Marine Sector and comfortable working at times in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Strong communication interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Strong digital literacy including Excel/Word/ PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage their time effectively.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday May 4th 2026.

End Date of Internship: Friday August 28th 2026 (4-Months).
