With over 130 years of experience navigating in some of the worlds most complex and difficult waters Seaspan Marine is the largest and most diverse tug & barge company on Canadas West Coast providing more than 2500 ship assist & escort services annually while our fleet of over 100 specialty and general-purpose barges provide critical transportation for many of BCs largest industries and major marine construction projects.

The Intern Finance (Marine) supports the accounting and reporting responsibilities for Seaspan Marine Group. The role will include month-end entries account reconciliations supervising of accounts preparing accruals analysis of results financial reporting documentation of procedures and project support. This position supports all aspects of operational finance & accounting within the division.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at 10 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.

What youll do

  • Assist with special projects.
  • Prepare and record month-end accounting journal entries.
  • Assist with the preparation of month-end reports.
  • Review and analyze accounts and results.
  • Calculate and record month-end revenue and cost accruals.
  • Reconcile various GL accounts.
  • Reconcile accounts to sub-ledgers.
  • Analyze account balances at month-end as needed.
  • Other accounting and financial duties as required.

What youll bring

  • Enrollment in 3rd year of a Finance Accounting or Business Administration degree program.
  • Completion of introductory accounting classes is preferred.
  • Demonstrated project and/or contract knowledge and skills through exposure to class projects or co-op terms.
  • Outstanding analytical skills to capture analyze and process large amounts of data.
  • Innovative thinking skills with the resourcefulness to get to the source of truth.
  • Outstanding integrity and honesty in all situations.
  • Strong communication interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language verbal and written.
  • Experience and strong comfort with Microsoft Excel.
  • Outstanding problem solving and research skills.
  • Minimum 50 WPM typing skills.
  • Strong academic results.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday May 4th 2026.

End Date of Internship: Friday August 28th 2026 (4-Months).
