Division/Program Summary:
The Division of Disease Controls mission is to safeguard the health of New Yorkers through identification surveillance treatment control and prevention of infectious diseases which is achieved through varied and interrelated endeavors of its seven Bureaus. The New York City (NYC) Bureau of Tuberculosis Control (BTBC) aims to prevent the spread of tuberculosis (TB) and eliminate it as a public health problem in NYC.
Position Summary:
The Supervising Public Health Advisor will oversee the work of Public Health Advisors conduct supplemental case management and field investigations assure that data is collected and accurately entered in the TB database systems and assist with ongoing training and staff development. The Supervising Public Health Advisor will become an integral part of the field staff providing guidance and adequate supervision related to case management and contact investigation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
-Supervise staff in different titles and levels; assign work to staff to ensure adequate coverage for all case management activities in area of responsibility; monitor all components of case management including video observations to ensure successful treatment for each patient and contacts assigned for management.
-Conduct routine quality assurance monitoring of the TB registry to ensure compliance with documentation timeliness and thoroughness of case management activities and provide guidance to staff to ensure that case management activities are conducted according to applicable BTBC protocols policies and procedures and accomplishment of BTBC goals and objectives.
-Cultivate relations with community partners and collaborate in a way that supports the agency and Bureau mission.
-Ensure weekly case management meetings pouch review cohort reviews and observations audits are performed to achieve expected outcomes and provide feedback to staff and supervisor.
-Review work of staff and evaluate work performances; take corrective actions as needed to achieve proficiency in conducting TB case management.

SUPERVISING PUBLIC HEALTH ADVI - 51193
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in a public health program performing duties involving case finding case management interviewing investigating and other related public health work one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by twelve semester credits in health education or in health social or biological sciences; and four years of experience as described in 1 above one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of experience as described in 1 above one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
4. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above. Undergraduate college credit may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of full-time experience. Twelve credits in the health social or biological sciences may be substituted for an additional six
months of experience. However all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and a minimum of two years of experience one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity as described in 1 above.
