About This Opportunity:

Reporting to the Production Manager the General Supervisor will be responsible for and provide direction to a team of Production Supervisors. This role will be accountable for ensuring lines are always running effectively and optimally within their area with a trained team in place. You lead by example and inspire your team to deliver top results. You are passionate about safety and promote a culture where safety comes first. You thrive in an environment that is fast paced and have a keen sense for continuous improvement. Your approach is collaborative and offer a forum where everyone feels comfortable to bring forward new ideas.

Responsibilities:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct leadership to the supervisory team.

  • Ensure effective implementation and compliance with all Health and Safety initiatives and programs.

  • Ensuring open and effective communications with other Production areas QA Manager Maintenance General Supervisor and all other departments within the plant to maximize production efficiencies.

  • Monitors and challenges the team to meet standards in yields/efficiencies on a daily basis.

  • Leads team to strive for continuous improvements to make us best in class.

  • Assist with the application and administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and ensuring compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

  • Providing support to the preparation of the annual budget; and focus on efficient cost-effective management.

  • Department Champion for continuous improvement initiatives in technology upgrading equipment/materials purchasing and quality programs.

  • Ensure effective implementation and compliance with all Food Safety initiatives.

  • Understand and work with state-of-the-art automation (SAP/MES/SCADA/Equipment HMI).

  • Applies knowledge and ensures compliance with CFIA Ministry of Labor Ministry of Environment Health & Safety and other legislative bodies that impact plant performance.

  • Demonstrates full commitment to the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety and to processes which facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION OUTCOMES:

  • Accountable for timely and accurate reports and for the operating budgets for the department.

  • Accountable for departments budget and building a strong team.

Skills & Experience:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience with proven performance management and leadership skills.

  • Relevant post-secondary education would be an asset.

  • Ability to work overnights start early and finish late.

  • Previous technical sanitation knowledge would be an asset.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication team building and motivational skills.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Well-developed English communication skills (verbal written reading).

  • Excellent initiative and leadership skills.

  • Proven commitment to good manufacturing practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise effective judgment in business decisions.

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Knowledge of HACCP and Provincial Health and Safety Regulations is an asset.
