Community Action Head Start is looking for a positive individual to join our team as a full time Food Service Associate! The Food Service Associate is responsible for preparing balanced age-appropriate meals and snacks that meet the Child and Adult Food Program and Head Start nutrition guidelines. The Food Service Associate will work collaboratively with Food Service Lead the Head Start Leadership team and Head Start staff to support childrens growth development and readiness to learn by ensuring they receive safe nutritious meals.
Starting Pay: $18.56/hour based on qualifications.
The Role:
- Prepare and serve nutritious age-appropriate meals and snacks following CACFP and Head Start guidelines.
- Accommodate food allergies special diets and cultural preferences with proper documentation.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow all food safety sanitation and licensing regulations.
- Properly store food monitor inventory and follow temperature control procedures.
- Clean and sanitize dishes utensils equipment and food preparation areas.
- Receive and verify food deliveries; label date and store items correctly.
- Complete required food service records certifications and attend required trainings.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or its equivalent required.
- Two or more years of job-related experience or training in institutional or hospital food service department preferred.
- Training in quantity food preparation required.
- Must have or be able to obtain a current Food Handlers Restricted Shift Manager Permit.
- Ability to follow all kitchen and equipment safety requirements precautions and standards.
- Skill in operating various types of kitchen equipment such as stove oven dishwasher microwave and other equipment.
- Ability to communicate with others both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
