The State College Area School District (State College PA) is seeking an educational leader to serve as our nextAssistant Superintendent of K-12 Curriculum and Instruction
with oversight responsibilities encompassing all grade levels within the District and providing both instructional and operational leadership. As a contracted direct report to the Superintendent and a member of the Superintendents Cabinet this is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished innovative seasoned leader to support the mission of the District have a direct impact on curricula approaches and implementation and collaborate among a diverse group of stakeholders to focus on instructional and academic activities that position students for future success.
We are a nationally acclaimed district of approximately 6800 students within a vibrant education-focused community with over 2000 employees and a budget of approximately $211.5 million. The successful candidate will be a skilled and demonstrated leader with an extensive depth and breadth of theory and practice of curriculum development and implementation forward thinking approaches to instructional activities a passion to create a supportive and rich learning environment for students a desire to provide opportunities for success for all students through high quality learning experiences and a desire and ability to collaborate with teachers instructional staff and non-instructional staff.
Other essential duties of the position include the ability to:
Promote a culture of collaboration trust and high expectations that support learning;
Further the development of a shared plan to attain the Districts goals;
Effectively collaborate with employees administration and staff in ensuring alignment in designing implementing and assessing the Districts educational programming including alignment with required District state and federal standards;
Lead the Districts Induction Plan that effectively aligns with Commonwealth standards and supports professionals while focusing on the use of appropriate and effective practices and methods for student achievement;
Understand and oversee implementation and ongoing efforts of multi-tiered systems of support and demonstrate an appreciation for the importance of such structures and how they can enhance student success;
Think strategically plan and prioritize effectively;
Analyze data to ensure appropriate instructional benchmarks and progress are aligned for success and recalibrate and adjust efforts accordingly;
Design and facilitate professional development including but not limited to training workshops mentoring opportunities and professional development;
Oversee and coordinate student teaching throughout the District;
Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously to meet deadlines; and
Communicate and present information effectively both orally and in writing to a broad range of stakeholders including the Board of Directors.
Applicants must possess demonstrated experience as a teacher in a public education setting as well as experience in K-12 curriculum administration. An applicable Masters degree in educational administration educational leadership curriculum development or a related field; and a Pennsylvania Superintendent Letter of Eligibility is required.
