Job Summary

Job Summary (in List Format):

- Assess and evaluate patients respiratory status through interviews examinations and data collection.
- Develop implement and modify individualized respiratory care plans based on patient assessments.
- Identify and address variations from expected patient findings; take appropriate clinical actions.
- Provide patient and family education regarding respiratory conditions treatments self-care and discharge plans.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments oxygen therapy and medications as ordered by physicians.
- Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) and perform pulse oximetry and pulmonary function testing.
- Perform and ensure quality of electrocardiograms (EKGs) and assist with bronchoscopic procedures.
- Set up operate and monitor mechanical ventilators BIPAP and CPAP equipment; assess equipment function and safety.
- Provide instruction on cardiopulmonary medications and equipment ensuring age and culturally appropriate education materials.
- Document care patient progress and any adverse or unexpected outcomes in the medical record.
- Implement and monitor compliance with VAP (Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia) bundle protocols; report deviations as necessary.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to other healthcare providers when indicated.
- Maintain required licenses and certifications (RRT MA State License ACLS NRP PALS).
- Adhere to physical demands of the position including lifting reaching and handling equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned including participation in weekend and holiday rotations.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or eligibility.
- Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license.
- Prior relevant experience in respiratory therapy.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the role.
